Participation in the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council

The Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon took part in a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Collective Security Council in Minsk.

Taking part in the session were President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Leaders of the CSTO member states met in narrow format and then continued their talks with their delegations present in which they have exchanged views on various issues concerning problems facing the world today, CSTO activities to ensure security, and other issues on the agenda of the meeting.

In his address the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the CSTO heads of member states to global issues such as global and regional instability, risks and threats to security of the CSTO member states.

The Leader of the Nation stressed that the growth of terrorism and extremism, the illegal arms trafficking, the illegal drug trade and other forms of transnational organised crime are setting new challenges for us.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the continuation of his address drew attention of partners to strengthening of protection of the Tajik–Afghan borders - the southern frontiers of the CSTO member states.

Following his address the Head of State Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the implementation plan for the CSTO Collective Security Strategy through 2025 and the adopting of package of decisions will help resolve certain very complex problems related to ensuring the collective security of the CSTO member states.

Following the meeting, the heads of the CSTO member states signed a declaration on the 25th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the Organisation.
