The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulations to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Dorothea Merkel.

The telegram reads in particular:

"Excellency,

I cordially congratulate you on your election to the post of Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The steady development and expansion of bilateral and multilateral relations with Germany is one of the main directions of Tajikistan's foreign policy.

We are confident that our constructive cooperation in the areas of mutual interest of the parties according to the interest of the two nations will continue getting enriched in the future with a new content and meaning.

We want to keep further expansion process and express our readiness through joint efforts along this path.
