Meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, and Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Affairs Anton Siluanov.

“We pay particular attention to further strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia,” stressed President Emomali Rahmon.

The important role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Affairs in achieving the goals of the two parties was also noted. In particular, the previously reached agreements on furthering trade and economic cooperation and the discussion of the Program for the Development of Economic Cooperation through 2021 in strengthening the partnership and increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.

It was emphasized that currently the export of the two countries is centered on raw material reserves, which needs diversifying. In this context, it was proposed to develop a mechanism to simplify the types of delivery of goods from Tajikistan to the Russian market. The need to intensify cooperation in the field of investment with the aim of creating joint ventures was also stressed upon.

Russia remains Tajikistan’s active economic partner. The volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to more than $1 billion last year. Russia's investments in Tajikistan’s economy exceeded $1.6 billion.

The parties affirmed their readiness for active cooperation in mining and processing minerals, in the light and food industries, the fuel, energy and the agricultural sector, in developing cooperation in the areas of finance and credit, transport, logistics, information technology, communications and tourism.

The cultural and humanitarian ties, education, and labor migration were also touched upon.
