Working trip to Lakhsh district

Upon completing his working trip to Tojikobod, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon visited the Lakhsh district, where he inspected community and individual farms. The region has irrigated over 250 hectares of fallow land and entered it into agricultural circulation.

This year, an additional 54 hectares have been utilized by the Muhammad-2018 farm in the village of Sartalo, in the Lakhsh district. About 30,000 seedlings of apple, plum, cherry, pear and peach trees have been grown here. Potato fields in the Sartalo area are also extensive, encompassing 90 hectares.

During the familiarization with the exhibition of agricultural products, which was organized in the territory of garden by farmers of the Lakhsh region, President Rahmon talked with the farmers regarding the efficient use of land and increasing crop production.

Last year, local farms have increased potato production, which reached 100,000 tons. Further development of animal husbandry and potato, grain, horticulture, vegetable cultivation as well as beekeeping was noted as an important factor in improving the population's standard of living.

This year, Lakhsh district farmers have extended the land used for potato cultivation, which now reaches 4,000 hectares. Additionally, 78 hectares have been added to the fruit farming area, in order to lay the foundation for strengthening the export potential of the country.

After inspecting local farms, President Rahmon visited the admnistrative center of Lakhsh where he was familiarized with the socio-economic development of the region and the landscaping work carried out in the district. Approximately 750 million somoni has been allocated for the socio-economic development of Lakhsh.

The implementation of the Lakhsh district Social and Economic Development Program through 2020 is ongoing, under which 140 projects are scheduled. To date 13 public investment projects worth 565 million somoni have been implemented, with two other projects worth 130 million somoni underway.

Presient Rahmon instructed the leadership of the executive body of the state authority of Lakhsh regarding the development of agriculture, beekeeping, increasing the number of livestocks, especially concerning yak breeding, and the restoration of gardens.

An exhibition of folk crafts was organized for President Rahmon's visit, which included works by craftswomen, blacksmiths, master of woodworking tools, skilled bakers from ten rural areas, villages and towns of the district. Folk handicrafts and sewing, such as gold embroidery, floral patterns, embroidery blankets, braid products, skullcaps, and carpet weaving were also showcased.

Thereafter, President Rahmon inspected Sumaya,-school uniform sewing workshop, and attended the unveiling ceremony for a monument to the first founder of the Tajik state Ismoili Somoni and likewise for the 14-meter-high State Emblem. The monument was created by artists and sculptors of the Institute of Arts.
