Today the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Rio-de-Janeiro of Brazil for participation in the general session of UN Conference on sustainable development.
In the second half of day President Emomali Rahmon attended and spoke at the joint event of UNESCO and “UN-Water” mechanism on international year of water cooperation.
In his speech the Head of State called upon all countries to take necessary measures through concrete actions in water and sanitary sphere, so that the 2013 International year of water cooperation is summed up fruitfully and the achieved results be used in the coming years for welfare of people and sustainable environment.
President of the country drew the attention of the participants to a number of issues of International year of water cooperation and stressed the necessity of establishment of effective and comprehensive cooperation for implementation of Millennium Development Goals and other coordinated international goals in sphere of water supply and sanitary. Moreover, cooperation in sphere of water for ensuring sustainable development and promotion of “green economy” has been in the centre of attention of Emomali Rahmon.
As the Tajik President highlighted, “the countries should act jointly, determine socio-economic priorities, utilize the funds reasonably and exploit water for keeping sustainable development and ecological balance”.
