Working trip to Muminobod district of Khatlon Province

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in the Muminobod district of Khatlon Province on a working visit in order to become familiar with the socio-economic development of the region. Upon this trip President Emomali Rahmon also held a number of meetings with the locals, took part in the opening ceremonies of a number of cultural and recreational facilities, and attended the event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of state independence.

The working visit began with the inspection of a 35 km stretch of the highway running through Kulob-Muminobod which is being built under the Kulob-Muminobod Road Rehabilitation Project. The 214, 4 million somoni project will be carried out as part of the third stage of Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Roads in the Republic of Tajikistan.

This was followed by an opening ceremony of a modern building built for the District Prosecutor's Office, which in turn was followed by opening ceremonies of the Republican Sanatorium-and-Spa Medical Rehabilitation for Cardiovascular Diseases and a playground in the Shahrinav village of the Dehibaland community. The rehabilitation center has 100 beds, including 26 for children.

The foundation laying ceremony for the construction of a six ha cultural and recreational park, National Flag and Emblem Square, as well as the opening ceremony for the Muminobod Hotel were also attended by President Emomali Rahmon.

The Muminobod Hotel was built by local entrepreneur Idikhon Safarov within the declaration of 2019-2021 as the Period of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts. A festive banquet was held there for the celebration of state independence for 60 orphan children. The children were presented with gifts on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon.

The opening ceremony for Muminobod Fruits and Vegetable Processing Plant Soft Drinks Company, which was built by local entrepreneurs, followed the list.

Following his familiarization with the plant which employs 80 people, President Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the initiatives of local entrepreneurs and advised them to increase production and continue to create new jobs.

Continuing his working trip to Muminobod, President Emomali Rahmon visited the National Exhibition of Economic Achievements, where local residents presented the best example of their handiwork. Experienced craftswomen paraded various types of national clothes, in particular, the Chakan, which in 2018 was included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Following the announcement of the Period of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts, the region's interest in the manufacture of handicrafts has increased.

During a warm conversation with the skilled craftswomen of the Muminobod district, President Emomali Rahmon noted that national clothing is an expression of history, culture, tradition, and folk crafts, which every resident of the country, especially women, must put effort to revive and strive to prevent youth from following foreign elements.

Also in the village of Shahrinav, President Emomali Rahmon visited the exhibition of products of agro-industrial enterprises of the district.

Currently, the district is home to 4765 farms. Closing his trip, President Emomali Rahmon held a warm meeting with local residents and congratulated them on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of state independence.

Analysis of the district's development shows that with the support of the government, the hardworking people of the district have achieved significant progress in the development of national and social sectors. During the independence period the government has allocated more than 600 million somoni for the development of the district.

Over the past 15 years, 23 state investment projects totaling 320 million somoni have been implemented in Muminobod district, and the implementation of seven other projects totaling 30 million somoni are underway.

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of state independence, 182 more facilities are planned to be built in the next two years. To date, 32 facilities have been completed from the planned facilities and the construction of 41 facilities is underway.

The head of state entrusted the district executive body of state authority to strengthen cooperation with the private sector, domestic and foreign investors, as well as to effectively use internal resources.

According to statistics, the region includes over 5,000 business entities, of which 85% are farms.

President Emomali Rahmon advised the people of the region to effectively use the rich natural resources, intensify the activities of the processing industry, light industry, especially food processing enterprises, fruit processing, medicinal herbs processing and production of decorative stones in order to also create new jobs.

The livestock sector accounts for about 70% of the region's total agricultural output, and further developing the sector is one of the priority areas.

The Ministry of Agriculture and the executive bodies of state authority have been instructed to take additional measures to improve the production of livestock, as well as to use the privileges established by the government for the development of livestock and poultry industries.

Taking into account the great natural wealth and the development of tourism, President Emomali Rahmon called for effective use opportunities for the development of the region.

He also instructed the executive body of state authority of the region, starting today, to give priority to the preparations for the winter period so that residents, especially employees of educational institutions, do not encounter difficulties.

Prior to his meeting with activist of Muminobod district, President Emomali Rahmon got acquainted with the activities of the Aminjon farm and visited the Muminobod reservoir and commissioned a new hotel.

The farm was established in 1998, and its land area is 4.5 hectares. Crops are grown on 3.25 hectares, and gardens are created on the remaining hectares.

The farm exports fresh and dried fruits to local markets of the republic, mainly to the Sughd region. More than 100 tons of dried fruits are exported annually from the Muminobod region.
