The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon presided over the session of the Security Council of Tajikistan. The discussion focused on domestically relevant pressing issues.

The Deputy Minister, Chief of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice Mansurjon Umarov reported on the course of the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Amnesty” dated from October 25, 2019. The law has already been applied to more than 10,000 convicts. More than 6,000 individuals who had been serving their sentence in the correctional institutions have already been released.

President Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the participants to the timely implementation of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Amnesty” and emphasized the necessity of preventing corruption during its implementation.

The meeting also touched upon the issue of the armed attack on the Ishkobod border crossing that occurred on November 6, 2019 and measures to strengthen the state border line. The Prosecutor General, Interior Affairs and Defense Ministers, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security and Commander of the Tajik Border Troops reported on these issues. Following the discussion, members of the Security Council adopted relevant decisions.
