Meeting with the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas

On February 18, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas who is in Dushanbe on a working visit.

At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon shared the priorities of the presidency of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CSTO and approved an agreed Action Plan for the next period.

In the course of the talks, the sides discussed the current tasks of the organization and some topical issues in the regional and international agenda.

President Rahmon stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation within the CSTO for effectively combating the spread of destructive radical ideas in its area of responsibility, as well as the fight against cybercrime and other criminal acts with use of information-communication technologies.

At the same time, the interlocutors stressed the importance of intensifying work to implement the decision of the Collective Security Council "On the List of Additional Measures to Reduce Tensions in the Tajik-Afghan Border Zone" to form a single list of organizations recognized as terrorist.

Attention was also paid to increasingly complicated situation in Afghanistan, as well as the growing threat of global terrorism, extremism, radicalism and transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking.

In this regard, President Rahmon stressed the necessity to intensify the strength of CSTO's potential in order to effectively combat security threats and challenges.
