Today the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union Martin Marmy and Secretary General of Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission Eduard Biryukov.
The issues of cooperation of Tajikistan with this authoritative international organization and TRACECA program on the construction of transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia have been considered at the talks.
Emomali Rahmon supported the new iniatiative of the International Road Transport Union on presentation of project “Exemplary road” in the route of border Kyrgyzstan-Jirgatol-Rasht-Dushanbe-Kurgan-Tyube-Panji Poyon-border with Afghanistan, as well as made a number of beneficial proposals. He also proposed that a Modern Centre of Automobile Logistics should be constructed in the free economic zone “Panji Poyon” in the framework of bilateral cooperation.
Moreover, the larger participation of IRU and TRACECA Program was considered necessary in the construction of new roads and reconstruction of existing automobile roads in Tajikistan, as well as their linking with transport networks of other countries of the region.
Much attention was paid to the issues of preparation to chairmanship of Tajikistan in TRACECA in 2013 and to the International High-level Conference on the development of automobile transport and transit opportunities of Central Asia for the period up to 2020, which will be held next year in Dushanbe.
