Meeting with Parliamentary Ombudsman of Finland Petri Jääskeläinen

On the same day in Helsinki the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has also met with the Parliamentary Ombudsman of Finland Petri Jääskeläinen.

Emomali Rahmon informed his interlocutor on the activities of Tajikistan’s institute of ombudsman, as well as noted in particular that during its short term of existence, namely since 2009, a favorable legal basis has been laid for fruitful functioning of this institute.

It has been stressed that ensuring rule of law and protection of human rights and freedoms are among the priority areas of cooperation of Tajikistan with the countries of the European Union.

There has been noted satisfaction with effective cooperation in the framework of 30-month programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland – “Equality before law: access to judicial justice in Central Asia” and other interactions between both countries in this domain.
