Today, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the President of the Swiss Council of Cantons (Upper Chamber of the Parliament) Hans Alter.

The issues related to friendly relations and fruitful Tajik-Swiss cooperation have been reviewed at the meeting.

It was noted with satisfaction that on December 9th it will be 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Switzerland.

It was reminded that 30 projects are currently being realized in Tajikistan in the spheres of healthcare, water supply, energy and ensuring the rule of law with the grant financing of Switzerland.

As Hans Alter has stressed, Switzerland will further enhance cooperation and partnership with Tajikistan, including in the domain of effective use of abundant water and energy resources, as well as training of highly qualified personnel and other priority economic spheres of the country.

A constructive talk has also taken place regarding the interaction in the areas of protection of human rights and freedoms, development of civil society and other issues of mutual interest.
