President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met in Tehran with newly elected President of Iran Hassan Ruhani.
At the beginning Tajik President repeatedly congratulated his counterpart on the occasion of his election to the post of President of Iran and expressed belief that the friendly relations and partnership between Tajikistan and Iran will further strengthen and expand with a new momentum.
Various aspects of wide-ranging ties between Tajikistan and Iran have been discussed. Main attention was paid to the expansion of trade and economic, investment, and energy cooperation. It was noted with satisfaction that currently more than 150 Iranian companies fruitfully operate in Tajikistan and the process of Iranian direct investments to the economy of our republic is developing rapidly.
A firm interest was stressed on the implementation of joint regional projects, such as the construction of railway and laying the water, oil pipelines and power transmission lines between Tajikistan and Iran.
The consideration of issues of interaction in the areas of science, technology, education and culture was also in the center of talks.
A constructive talk was also held on the issues of regional and international importance, including current situation and its prospects in Afghanistan and cooperation in prevention of threats of modern world.
Emomali Rahmon invited Hassan Ruhani to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. Hassan Ruhani joyfully accepted the invitation and highlighted that he will visit Tajikistan in the nearest favorable time.
