President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of China Xi Jinping

In the afternoon, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of China Xi Jinping.

The meeting addressed a wide range of cooperation issues between Tajikistan and China.

It was expressed satisfaction over the level and content of dynamically developing relations between the two neighboring countries.

The President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping expressed thanks for a high level and warm hospitality of leadership and people of Tajikistan extended during his state visit to Tajikistan and at Dushanbe SCO Summit in September this year.

As it was mentioned, during the 8 months of current year the trade turnover between the two countries has exceeded 1,5 billion USD and this is for 40% more compared to the same period of 2013. It was voiced confidence that the nearest years will show this indicator to exceed over 3 billion USD.

A constructive talk took place on the ways to fruitfully implement many documents signed between the two countries, including Programme of Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and China for up to 2020.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that three strategic goals of the Government of Tajikistan on securing energy independence, ensuring food security, and withdrawal of the country from communication deadlock “are three strategic goals of Tajikistan-China partnership”.

Particular attention was paid to the acceleration of implementation of big economic projects on the laying out of Tajikistani section of gas pipeline Central Asia-China, construction of second queue of new heating power station of Dushanbe, railway Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa, second queue of project for construction and renovation of Kalai Khumb-Khorugh section of automobile road Dushanbe-Khorugh-Kulma-China, and geological-exploration works and extraction of oil and gas of Tajikistan.

The construction of joint mining, metallurgic, agricultural processing and similar enterprises were named among the important directions of bilateral economic cooperation.

Moreover, it was attached particular attention to the prospects of construction of railway China-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran-Persian Gulf.

An exchange of views was also held with reference to high advantage of security cooperation between the two countries on strengthening and expansion of beneficial ties between the law enforcement and military structures of Tajikistan and China, including in fight against modern world threats.

Following the meeting, 4 new cooperation documents have been signed in the presence of heads of both states Emomali Rahmon and Xi Jinping:

-Framework Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of China on allocation of preferential credit of China to Tajikistan;

-Agreement on Preferential Credit between the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and Export-Import Bank of China for construction of Vahdat-Yovon section of railway Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa;

-Agreement on Preferential Credit between the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and Export-Import Bank of China for construction of second queue of new heating power station of Dushanbe and increasing of its total capacity to 400 Megawatts;

-  Agreement on Preferential Credit between the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and Export-Import Bank of China for construction of enterprises for manufacturing of cryolite, fluoric aluminum and sulfate acid in the margins of renovation of Tajik Aluminum Company.
