Today, in the capital's Kokhi Vahdat, the XII Congress of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) was held chaired by the President of the Party Emomali Rahmon.

The party congress considered a number of questions related to the activities of the party for over the past 5 years, working program and plans for the period of preparation and holding of elections of deputies of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and Local assemblies of People's Deputies. The Chairman of the PDP Emomali Rahmon spoke at the beginning of the Congress, and congratulated the deputies of Congress and all members of the party with the twentieth anniversary since the formation of this powerful political union.

Chairman of the PDP E.Rahmon, recalling the twenty-year activities of the party, in particular, noted that "Our party as a powerful political force in the country to date has made efforts for the practical realization of political and economic freedoms, such as pluralism, multi-party system, freedom of speech, press and religion, transparent and democratic elections, the rule of law, a diverse economy, free economic competition, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, the formation of civil society, etc. The result of this is that the representatives of the majority of society see the expression of their interests in the program of the party, giving to it their support".

During the nomination of candidates for elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan 28 people from among the active members of the PDP were supported on a single republican constituency.

It should be noted that 11 of them are women, experienced scientists and experts of various fields, including talented young people, having a modern outlook on life of society.
