The regular meeting of heads of states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took place in Moscow. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, as the presidency in the organization was handed over from Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the charter of CSTO, each member state assumes presidency in this organization for one year by turn. Thus, until the end of 2015 the Republic of Tajikistan will chair in all bodies of the Organization.
The meeting addressed more than 20 issues, including strengthening of interaction in fight against terrorism and extermism in the region and the world, coordination of activities of working bodies of the organization and member countries, including joint special and military forces and peacekeeping forces, improvement of mechanisms of use of joint forces, assistance to Tajikistan for strengthening of protection of state border with Afghanistan and preparations for celebration of the 70th anniversary since the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Much attention was paid to the issues of strengthening of combat against terrorism and extremism, which have over the recent years intensified in their dangers to the zone of CSTO, first of all in Central Asia.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of CSTO heads of states in October 2015 in Dushanbe.
The meeting of heads of states of CSTO was taken stock during a press-conference by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Secretary General of the organization Nikolay Bordyuzha.
