The issues of cooperation of Tajikistan and the United Nations on Afghanistan and in the region have also been considered at the meeting of the Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific Ms. Noeleen Heyzer.

Expressing respect and gratitude for efforts of Tajikistan in ensuring security and economic development in Afghanistan and the Central Asian region, Ms. Noeleen Heyzer called upon Emomali Rahmon that the high-ranking and competent representatives of the country should be sent to forthcoming forums on Afghanistan to be held in July and November current year in Tokio (Japan) and Bangkok (Thailand) for continuation of discussions on subjects of interest.
