The President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi.
The current state and prospects of multidimensional relations between Tajikistan and Iran have been considered during the meeting.
The content of political, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and, particularly, energy and transport sphere cooperation was noted with satisfaction. It was highlighted that after completion of construction of Sangtuda-2 HPP the beginning of construction of Aini hydropower station on the Zerafshan river by Iranian side will be another firm step of both friendly countries sharing common language in the way of strengthening and developing mutually beneficial relationships.
It was noted that currently 150 Iranian companies are fruitfully functioning in Tajikistan. The volume of goods turnover between the two countries in 2011 reached more than 204 million USD that is for 102% more than in 2010.
Despite this, it was stressed that according to abundant existing opportunities and resources the trade and economic cooperation and investment of Tajikistan and Iran must be several times as much nowadays.
An exchange of views was held also on the regional and international issues, promotion of revival of peaceful life in Afghanistan and other subjects of interests.
It was attached a great importance to holding the International Day of Navruz and the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan in the third decade of March in Tajikistan.
