Satisfaction over Tajikistan’s progress at the meeting with IMF representative

The President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Head of International Monetary Fund Group Todd Schneider.

The current state and ways of further support of socio-economic development of Tajikistan have been considered during the talks.

Both parties expressed satisfaction over the results and prospects of socio-economic development of Tajikistan, which are obvious in spite of impact of negative external factors.

Much attention was paid to the development of a new Tax Code of Tajikistan considered to be among the important prerequisites for improvement of investment and business climate.

As the Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stated, “an objective is the reduction of number of taxes and their volumes, so that the taxpayers do not conceal their real incomes and act transparently”. It was expressed confidence that such method of work will be of benefit both to taxpayers and state budget, and it will eliminate the incidents which cause corruption.

It should be noted that the draft of a new Tax Code of Tajikistan is to be developed by the Governmental Commission in cooperation with experts of international financial institutions. A constructive exchange of views was also held on the future program of cooperation between Tajikistan and International Monetary Fund which is currently under consideration.
