The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a fruitful meeting with the President of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium Andre Flahaut.
"We consider the kind and friendly political relations, including inter-parliamentary ties as an important factor of beneficial bilateral relations", - stated the Head of State Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the talks.
A constructive talk was also held on different aspects of relatins between the two countries.
The current issues and prospects of international cooperation of Tajikistan in energy sphere were discussed as well at the meeting of the President of the country with the Senior Vice President of Total Company Michael Borrel.
As it was noted, this company intends to engage in geological-research works and extraction and processing of oil and gas in the southern area of Tajikistan.
The issues of cooperation of Tajikistan in energy area were substantially discussed with Energy Charter Secretary General Urban Rusnak and at the Forum “New opportunities of investment in energy sphere of Tajikistan”.
Head of Tajik State Emomali Rahmon during a tete-a-tete meeting with Urban Rusnak expressed confidence that this meeting as well as organized forum of Energy Charter will give a serious impetus to wide attraction of investments and unprecedented development of this vital area.
This morning in Brussels the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs.
Emomali Rahmon highlighted that “the European Union is among the greatest assistance partners of Tajikistan and the European Commission plays a remarkable role in the path of support of stable development of our country”.
During the meeting of the Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso also future relations of Tajikistan with European Union were named as having hopeful prospects.
It was expressed satisfaction with fruitful implementation of programmes of EU, such as BOMCA and CADAP, Tempus and Erasmus Mundus and macrofinance and technical support of Tajikistan.
The meeting with the President of the EU Council Herman Van Rompuy was a central event in today's programme of the visit of the Head of Tajik State Emomali Rahmon to Brussels.
Today in Brussels, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of the European Investment Bank Wilhelm Molterer.
The issues of further expansion of bilateral cooperation have been considered at the meeting.
It was reminded with satisfaction that Tajikistan is the first partner of the EIB in Central Asia. Currently, the project for Reconstruction of energy sphere of Tajikistan is being implemented at the expense of 21 million Euro credit and grant investment of this bank.

The issues of cooperation of Tajikistan and the European Union, particularly the process of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations have been discussed at the meeting.
On the second day of his official visit to Brussels, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
At the beginning the Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with practical parnership with this organization in the framework of Partnership for Peace Programme and named the implementation of Individual Partnership Cooperation Programme between Tajikistan and NATO as an effective means of strengthening relations between the two sides.
