At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah the issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed.
“Tajikistan, in the framework of its “open-doors” foreign policy” focuses priority attention to the development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Arab countries, particularly the State of Kuwait and other countries of the Gulf basin.
At the meeting with former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra, who is one of the founders of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, the issues of cooperation in the framework of the mentioned organization, as well as bilateral cooperation of Tajikistan and Thailand were considered.
It was expressed satisfaction over the development of beneficial cooperation between the two countries, which gained its impetus since the official visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Thailand in August 2005.
During the meeting with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Abdelaziz bin Abdullah Al-Saud the issues of cooperation with this authoritative country in the Islamic world were reviewed.
“Tajikistan pays a particular attention to the strengthening of friendly relations with Saudi Arabia and we are satisfied that our political ties, including in top-level, are based at confidence, mutual respect and constructiveness” – stated President Emomali Rahmon and added, “we very appreciate it”.
During the meeting with Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Minoru Kiuchi the issues of cooperation of Tajikistan with this developed country of the world were reviewed.
The Head of State Emomali Rahmon stressed “sincere interest of Tajikistan in strengthening and expanding long-term wide-ranging cooperation with Japan”.
In the afternoon, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon also received high-level representatives of a number of Asian countries, who visited Dushanbe for participation in the Meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev the issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries have been reviewed.
In the afternoon, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrisov, who paid an official visit to Tajikistan.
The issues of wide-ranging Tajik-Kazakh cooperation were reviewed at the meeting.
This evening in Ashgabat the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
During the meeting both sides exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral ties between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Emomali Rahmon, paying special attention to the development of economic and trade cooperation, stated: “Tajikistan supports the efforts of Pakistan to more active participation in the framework of ECO and OIC”.
Today, a trilateral meeting also took place between the presidents of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in Ashgabat.
The issues regarding the construction of railway linking Tajikistan and Turkmenistan through Afghanistan were the main topic of trilateral conversation.
It was noted with satisfaction that the issues related to investment of this project were coordinated in October 2012 according to Action Plan of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Programme (CAREC).
In the afternoon, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to attend the International Navruz celebrations.
In addition, the heads of state or high-ranking representatives from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, India, Turkey and other countries marking Navruz will also visit Turkmenistan in order to take part in festive events and hold bilateral and multilateral meetings.
