The visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the Republic of India began from the state of Goa.
During the meeting with the Governor of Goa Bharat Vir Wanchoo the issues regarding the cooperation of Tajikistan with this area of India situated in the south-western part of the country have been discussed.
With reference to deep cultural links and common roots of Tajik and Indian languages, as well as abundant opportunities and resources for establishment and enhancement of economic, trade and investment cooperation, both sides have expressed interest in the expansion of mutually beneficial relations.
Much attention was paid to the development of cooperation in areas of extraction and processing of rock minerals, cultivation and processing of agricultural products, pharmaceutics, establishment of joint industrial enterprises, exchange of experience in the domain of tourism and fostering consistent scientific and cultural ties.
A constructive talk has also been held on the issues of regional and international importance, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
