The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of condolences to the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, which reads, in particular:

"Your Excellency,

I was deeply saddened by the news of the death of former President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze.

Whatever zigzags are not committed by history, Eduard Shevardnadze remained in its context as an outstanding political figure of our time, who identified the personality of an era. Merits of the deceased before Georgia have been evaluated by its people, by whose will he led the country in the most difficult periods of its life for a long time.

In this sad hour I ask you, Mr President, to convey my most sincere condolences to the Georgian people, relatives and friends of the deceased".
