March 2 in the afternoon, President Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of the Executive Committee, the Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergey Lebedev, who is in Tajikistan as the head of the Group of Observers from Member States of the organization for the parliamentary elections.
The meeting discussed the preparation and conduct of the parliamentary elections in Tajikistan, which took place on March 1st. Sergey Lebedev, describing the observations of representatives of the CIS for the preparation and conduct of the parliamentary elections in Tajikistan, said that the group had 257 observers from 9 countries of the Commonwealth, who visited all the cities and districts of the republic.
Team Leader of the CIS observers once again stressed that the elections were held in a democratic atmosphere, transparently and in accordance with the laws of Tajikistan.
There was also a constructive conversation on other issues of cooperation of CIS member states, as well as the role of Tajikistan in this community.
