Today, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu.
The meeting discussed issues of military and military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia on the basis of bilateral and multilateral agreements.
Particular attention was paid to the current situation in the region, especially destabilized situation in northern Afghanistan, as well as on strengthening the protection of the state border of Tajikistan with this neighboring country.
In this connection a constructive discussion was held on issues of technical modernization of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, which is one of the most important bilateral decisions of Tajikistan and Russia in the field of defense cooperation.
At the same time, it was stressed the need to strengthen the coordinated interaction of law enforcement and military structures of Tajikistan and the 201st Russian military base.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on issues of training of qualified military personnel in Tajikistan in Russian military academies, as well as other relevant issues.
