In the morning, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hamid Chitchiyon.
President Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the conversation said: "Tajikistan is satisfied that, in recent years in the field of economic relations between the two countries fundamental cooperation occupies a special place". It was emphasized that now more than 150 Iranian companies operate effectively in Tajikistan. The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran in 2014 amounted to over 228 mln. US dollars, accounting for 4.3% of the total volume of foreign trade in Tajikistan in 2014.
It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the fundamental areas of energy and transport infrastructure, along with political and cultural ties, is an important area of relations between the two countries.
They expressed confidence in the fact that the Iranian side, using the combined experience of the construction of the Sangtuda-2, will contribute to the construction of other hydropower plants in Tajikistan.
Particular attention was also paid to the expansion of trilateral relations of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan, including the construction of the railway, power line and a water line between the three countries.
