This morning, the high-level international conference on the results of the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", 2005-2015, started its work in the Kokhi Somon City residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It should be recalled that for participation in the conference in Tajikistan arrived over 1,500 people, representing more than 100 countries and dozens of international and regional organizations.
International high-level conference on the results of the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", 2005-2015 began under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Aslov and speech of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon considered the outcome of the implementation indicators of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", proposed to proclaim the new International Decade for Action under the motto "Water for Sustainable Development".
The second conference speech was made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, who praised the initiative of Tajikistan and its leadership in considering of the global water problems and another initiative of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon regarding the proclamation of the new International Decade for Action, under the slogan "Water for Sustainable Development".
As part of the opening ceremony were also made speeches by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Executive of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Temir Sariev, the Prime Minister of the Gabonese Republic Daniel She Ondo, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bahtizhan Sagintaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Annageldy Yazmuradov, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations / United Nations Development Programme Administrator Helen Clark, Director of the Regional Office of UN Women for Europe and Central Asia Ingibdzhorg Gisladottir, a student of 8th grade International Presidential School (Dushanbe) Mukhabbatova Komila.
During their speeches, the participants suppoprted worthy initiative of Tajikistan, including another proposal of the President of the country Emomali Rahmon on the proclamation of a new International Decade for Action, under the slogan "Water for Sustainable Development".
